Mei Eden authorized to resume selling water from contaminated spring

The Health Ministry on Sunday night authorized Mei Eden to resume selling water obtained from its spring in which dangerous contaminants were discovered some two weeks ago.
Israel Radio reported Monday that the authorization was given on the basis of tests carried out by a private lab that works with Mei Eden, even though Health Ministry tests conducted Sunday had revealed irregular levels of the contaminants.
Mei Eden said that all products that had left its factories had been checked and were found to be safe.
Health Ministry associate director-general Dr. Boaz Lev said he wasn't aware the authorization had been given and that the matter was the responsibility of the district doctor. He stressed that the Health Ministry prohibits the sale of unclean water.
