New animal species found in Israel

Hebrew University scientists find "a new and unique ecosystem" near Ramle.

A new species of invertebrate animals that have been heretofore unknown to science have been discovered in Israel, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem announced Tuesday. The new species were revealed in a cave that was uncovered as a result of excavations in a quarry near the central Israeli city of Ramle. Details of the new species will be revealed in full at a university press conference on Wednesday.
