Two Royal Marines died after an explosive device hit their vehicle in southern Afghanistan, Britain's Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday. The ministry said that the Marines were part of the UK Landing Force Command Support Group, and were working in the Garmsir district of the restive Helmand province. They were on a joint patrol with Afghan Security Forces on Wednesday afternoon when the explosive device hit their vehicle. The deaths bring the number of British personnel who have died in Afghanistan to 124. The Marines' next of kin have been notified, but their names have not been released.
