20 Kurdish demonstrators clash with Turkish police

Police clashed with hundreds of stone-throwing Kurdish protesters in southern Turkey on Saturday, and about 20 people were slightly injured, including seven children, a news agency reported.
Police used tear gas and water canons to disperse the demonstrators who were protesting the capture of Kurdish rebel chief Abdullah Ocalan 10 years ago, the private Dogan news agency said. Police said 15 protesters were detained in the clash in Batman.
A picture on the Web site of Hurriyet newspaper showed people lying on the ground amid shoes apparently left by panicked protesters and parents sheltering their children during the clash in Batman.
Similar clashes also erupted in Istanbul and the southern city of Mersin, reports said.
