3 Russian police officers fired for drunken driving in Red Square

Moscow police have fired three officers for drunken driving in Red Square.
Police released a statement Monday saying three intoxicated officers took a sports-utility vehicle onto the famous cobbled square on Friday morning.
The statement said Dmitry Shirokov, Alexander Zaitsev and Alexei Parfirev were relieved of their posts for "disgracing the honor and dignity" of the police.
No other details were given.
Drunken driving is widespread in Russia, which has one of the world's worst road safety records. Almost half of the 33,000 road deaths in 2007 reportedly involved alcohol.
