Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be unlikely to receive an invitation to a reception US President Barack Obama will host in New York later this month, the White House said Thursday. The reception for world leaders will take place during the United Nations General Assembly meeting. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said he doubts that Ahmadinejad will be invited because "Iran is failing to live up to its international obligations." The US has set a mid-September deadline for Iran to respond to its offer to hold talks on that nation's nuclear program. Gibbs added that it was possible other world leaders would also not be invited.
