Beau Biden will not accept Senate appointment

Beau Biden, the attorney general of Delaware and son of Vice President-elect Joe Biden, said on Wednesday he plans to fulfill his military duties and would not accept an appointment to his father's US Senate seat Biden released the statement as his National Guard unit prepares to deploy to Iraq. He said he hasn't sought and wouldn't accept an appointment to the Senate. Biden was seen as a possible successor to his father, a Democrat who must resign his Senate seat before being sworn as vice president Jan. 20.
