A shooting broke out at a shopping mall in Alabama late Thursday as thousands of shoppers headed to their local stores to take advantage of Thanksgiving 'Black Friday' sales.

The shooting at Riverchase Galleria mall in the town Hoover left at least one person dead and two others injured, including a 12-year-old girl who was wounded, local police said in a news conference.
Police said the incident began with an altercation between two teenagers which led to an exchange of gunfire. One suspect was seriously injured in the exchange and the other tried to flee the scene.
That individual, an 18-year-old, was then confronted by two Hoover police officers and was shot dead at the scene, the local NBC news affiliate reported.
Local TV news footage showed emergency response vehicles at the scene as police directed shoppers and vehicle traffic out of the area.
Social media video posted online reportedly from inside the mall during the shooting depicted chaotic scenes with numerous rounds of gunfire heard.
