The British airline bmi said Tuesday it plans to open a London-Tel Aviv flight route next year. The new service follows the successful talks between the British and Israeli governments, the airline said. "We are delighted that there has been a successful outcome to the inter-government negotiations allowing the designation of a second UK airline. We will be applying to be designated immediately," said Nigel Turner, the chief executive of bmi, the second largest airline operating at Heathrow airport in London. "I congratulate both the UK and Israeli governments in recognizing the need to bring wider competition to air travel between the two countries," he said.
