A British soldier was killed by an explosion in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Defense said the soldier from the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards was killed in an area northeast of Gereshk in Afghanistan's Helmand province.
The military said he died instantly. The cause of the explosion was still being investigated.
The death brings to the total number of UK military personnel who have died while serving in Afghanistan since October 2001 to 153.
The ministry says the man's next of kin had been notified.
