British soldier killed in Afghanistan

Britain's military says one of its soldiers has been killed by a gunshot wound in southern Afghanistan. The Ministry of Defense said Thursday the soldier, who was from The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, was killed while on patrol with the Afghan National Army near Musa Qal'eh in Afghanistan's violence-wracked Helmand province. The Defense Ministry did not reveal the day the soldier died. It also did not say who fired the fatal shot. The death brings the total number of UK military personnel who have died while serving in Afghanistan since October 2001 to 154. The ministry says the man's next of kin have been informed.
