Canadians quarantined in China over flu fears

A group of 29 University of Montreal students and their professor has been quarantined at a hotel in China over swine flu fears, a school official said. The group has been quarantined since the weekend, although none has exhibited any symptoms of the virus, University of Montreal spokeswoman Sophie Langlois said. The group includes 23 Canadian students. Langlois said the group also includes three French citizens, one Swiss citizen, a Nigerian and a German. Canada so far has confirmed 140 cases, including a young girl with a severe case who has been hospitalized, a first for Canada. Dr. David Butler Jones, Canada's chief public health officer, said there is no direct link to Mexican travel in the girl's case and that health officials are starting to see community-based transmission.
