John Demjanjuk's German lawyer says he has filed a challenge to the German arrest warrant that resulted in the 89-year-old's deportation from the United States.
Guenther Maull filed the challenge after Demjanjuk was formally placed into investigative custody following his arrival Tuesday in Munich to face accusations of Nazi-era war crimes.
After a judge read the warrant to Demjanjuk, Maull argued that the evidence is not solid and German authorities' jurisdiction is questionable.
Under the German system, suspects are placed in investigative custody pending the formal pressing of charges.
