Discussions on Third Protocol open at Red Cross

The first day of discussions at the 29th meeting of the International Red Cross Association opened Tuesday. The Red Cross is set to approve the Third Protocol, which will recognize a neutral red diamond as the organization's symbol and pave the way for Magen David Adom's acceptance as a full member. Syria and Pakistan are completely opposed to accepting MDA as a member and are trying to delay the acceptance vote for 3 months. Jordan, however, is against the Syrian and Pakistani position and is pushing for an immediate vote, Zaka reported.
