The first day of discussions at the 29th meeting of the International Red Cross Association opened Tuesday. The Red Cross is set to approve the Third Protocol, which will recognize a neutral red diamond as the organization's symbol and pave the way for Magen David Adom's acceptance as a full member.
Syria and Pakistan are completely opposed to accepting MDA as a member and are trying to delay the acceptance vote for 3 months. Jordan, however, is against the Syrian and Pakistani position and is pushing for an immediate vote, Zaka reported.
