The ministry said Sunday that the patient is a 30-year-old Chinese man surnamed Bao who had returned on Saturday to Chengdu, the capital of southwestern Sichuan province, from the United States where he is attending a university.
The ministry said Bao took a flight from Tokyo and arrived in Beijing on Saturday. He flew onward from Beijing to Chengdu the same day.
