Interpol issues 'red notices' in Chechen's slaying

Interpol has issued wanted notices for seven Russians in connection with the slaying of a one-time Chechen warlord, the international police organization said Monday. Sulim Yamadayev, a rebel warlord who switched to the Russian government's side in the Chechen conflict, was shot dead in Dubai last month, and the city's police chief has accused a Russian parliament deputy with ties to the Kremlin of masterminding the killing. The deputy, Adam Delimkhanov, was among those targeted by the wanted notices. In a statement Monday, Interpol praised Dubai police officials for requesting the so-called Red Notices, which mean a suspect is wanted for possible extradition but do not force countries to arrest or extradite suspects. It was not immediately clear when the notices were issued, but an Interpol spokeswoman said it happened ahead of Monday's public announcement.
