Iran's version of a United States stealth drone it captured three years ago is now fully operational, the Islamic Republic said Monday.
General Amir Ali Hajizade, an aerospace commander in Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corp announced at a military ceremony that a video of the successful test flight would soon be released to the public.
The unmanned aerial vehicle was modeled after a RQ-170 Sentinel – technology Iran's armed forces vowed to adopt in December 2011 when it downed the drone over its airspace.
Iran promised to "reverse-engineer" the captured drone, saying their version would be "of higher quality" than the original.
