Islamist terror group in Africa uses Trump clip in recruitment video

Al Shabaab, al-Qaida's affiliate in east Africa, has used in a recruitment video a clip of presidential candidate Donald Trump in which he calls for barring entry of Muslims into the US, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. The WSJ reported that the militant Islamist group released a 51-minute video calling on American Muslims to join the organization, according to a copy of the video that the paper obtained and disseminated by SITE Intelligence Group. In December, Trump called for 'a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on' in light of 'great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population.' The Al Shabaab video shows a clip of Anwar al-Awlaki, a now-deceased al-Qaida figure killed by a drone strike in 2011, warning 'Muslims of the West' that they are not welcome in places like the US, WSJ reported. “There are ominous clouds gathering in your horizon. Yesterday, America was a land of slavery, segregation, lynching, and Ku Klux Klan, and tomorrow, it will be a land of religious discrimination and concentration camps,” al-Awlaki says on the video. The video then runs the clip of Trump, speaking in December when he made his proposal for a temporary but “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the US.” Towards the end of the video, an Al Shabaab member threatens to carry out a terror attack on a bigger scale than the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and said the group planned to kill US President Barack Obama.
