Ron Hirsch, 60, a transient accused of detonating a pipe bomb outside of a Los Angeles Jewish center, has been charged with one felony count of explosion with intent to murder.Hirsch was arrested Monday in Cleveland Heights, Ohio on a federal arrest warrant. He is also charged with use of a destructive device and intent to injure, as well as possession of a destructive device.

Police: Santa Monica Chabad explosion was a bombAuthorities detained him near another Jewish center "following a call to law enforcement by a concerned citizen who had come into contact with Mr. Hirsch," according to a statement released by the FBI. According to the arrest warrant, FBI officials obtained a receipt at the scene of the Los Angeles blast that links Hirsch to the purchase of three 11-lb. bags of "demolition agent." The "demolition agent" was purchased at Constar in Clovis, Calif. on April 1.The blast, which took place at a synagogue in Santa Monica, sent debris crashing through the roof of the Chabad House, which sits next door.The Santa Monica Police Department released a photograph and description of 60-year-old Hirsch last Friday.Police added that Hirsch previously frequented synagogues and Jewish community centers in the Los Angeles area seeking charity.Following the announcement, the Anti-Defamation League issued a security alert to other synagogues and Jewish institutions in southern California, according to the Los Angeles Times. It said that it had "no information regarding a specific threat," but called on community members to be "extra vigilant."Hirsch reportedly left Los Angeles on a Greyhound bus on Thursday and was on his way to New York when he was arrested in Cleveland.
