Lawyer: Iran to free jailed American journalist

Lawyers for a jailed US journalist said on Monday that she would be freed later in the day, after an Iranian appeals court suspends her prison term and she can leave the country immediately. Roxana Saberi, a 32-year-old dual American-Iranian national, was convicted last month of spying for the US and sentenced to eight years in prison. An appeals court heard her case on Sunday. Her lawyer, Abdolsamad Khorramshahi, said that Iran's judiciary told him Monday that Saberi's jail term was reduced to a suspended two year sentence. He told The Associated Press that Saberi will be "released today."
