Lebanese convicted in failed German train bombing

A Lebanese man has been convicted of planting a bomb on a German commuter train in 2006 and sentenced to life in prison. A state court in Duesseldorf convicted 24-year-old Youssef Mohammed el-Hajdib on Tuesday of attempted murder and attempting to cause an explosion. El-Hajdib is one of two main suspects accused of planting bombs on two regional trains at the main train station in Cologne in July 2006. The bombs failed to detonate.
