The United Nations opened the third day of the general debate of the 71st session of its General Assembly on Thursday at UN headquarters in New York, with the leaders of over 30 members states addressing the plenum. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas addressed the assembly and was shortly thereafter followed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also address the plenum on Thursday, and Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi were due to make addresses. The event is scheduled to run until next Monday.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived for a five-day trip to New York on Tuesday, and is met with Obama on Wednesday. He is also due to meet UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday.
