Man sentenced to 16 years in prison for LA fires

A man was sentenced to 16 years in prison on Monday, in connection with a series of fires in Los Angeles' sprawling Griffith Park last year that injured a firefighter. Superior Court Judge Norm Shapiro sentenced 44-year-old Gary Allen Lintz after Lintz pleaded no contest to one count of arson of a structure or forest. Lintz also admitted the special allegations of great bodily injury to a firefighter and of having a previous arson conviction. The firefighter was injured when three separate fires near a train museum burned 50 acres. Lintz was arrested in August after witnesses reported seeing him near a fire. He was originally charged with starting four fires. In return for his plea three counts were dismissed.
