Niger police arrest former PM on corruption charges

Police have arrested a former prime minister of the uranium-rich nation of Niger on suspicion of corruption.
An Associated Press reporter witnessed the arrest Thursday of Hama Amadou in the desert country's capital.
Amadou served as prime minister from 2000 to 2007. The government has accused Amadou of embezzling around US$230,000 during his time in office.
