Only a minute after taking off in a storm, a Nigerian airliner was a tangle of smoldering wreckage, charred corpses and ripped luggage - the third such crash in less than a year in this West African nation. Most of the 104 people aboard were believed killed; six survivors were hospitalized. Among the confirmed dead was the man regarded as the spiritual leader of Nigeria's 70 million Muslims, Muhammadu Maccido, the sultan of the northern state of Sokoto.
