Obama: US cannot participate in conference that attacks Israel

US President Barack Obama on Sunday said the United States will not take part in the UN conference on racism because its organizers insisted on including "hypocritical" allegations against Israel. Obama said he "believes in the United Nations" and wants to be as encouraging as he can. But, he said, the Geneva conference organizers refused to drop allegations of racism on the part of Israel, and that made it impossible for the US to participate. Obama spoke Sunday in Trinidad after the end of the Summit of the Americas.
