An auction in Germany that ended on Saturday sold paintings by Adolf Hitler for around $450,000, AFP reported. The most expensive work of art was of King Ludwig II's Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria which was sold to a Chinese buyer for 100,000 euros, German news agency DPA quoted Nuremberg-based Weidler auctioneers as saying.Another painting, a still-life of carnations was sold for 73,000 euros. All of the works on offer at the auction which date from 1904 to 1922, were sold, according to the report. Bidders included private investors from Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, France and Germany, the auction house said."These collectors are not specialized in works by this particular painter but rather have a general interest in high-value art," Kathrin Weidler of the auction firm told DPA.Germany permits auction houses to sell Hitler's paintings as long as they do not feature any banned symbols, AFP noted.
