Pakistanis rally against Israeli offensive in Gaza

Thousands of Pakistanis rallied Sunday to condemn Israel over its operation in the Gaza Strip and the United States' support it received. Supporters of the hard-line Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami gathered in the heart of the commercial hub of Karachi, waving Palestinian flags, banners and placards condemning the Israeli military action. Police officer Sohrab Mayo estimated the size of the crowd at more than 10,000, including women and children. Police deployed to ensure security, but no violence was reported. Smaller anti-Israel protests were also held in the cities of Lahore and Multan.
