Fire swept through an underwear factory in China's northeast before dawn, killing nine female employees who were sleeping in its dormitory, a news report said Sunday.
The fire broke out at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday at the factory on the outskirts of Shenyang, a major industrial city, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
The first floor of the two-story building was used as a factory and employees slept on the second floor.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
