Russia: Hearings to begin on shul attack suspect

A court was due to open hearings Tuesday on the trial of a man accused of attacking worshippers at a Moscow synagogue last month. Alexander Koptsev, 20, allegedly stabbed and wounded nine men. He faces life in prison if convicted of the charges of attempted murder, assault and actions aimed at humiliating ethnic or religious groups. The Moscow City Court was to decide a date for the trial's start and whether it would include a jury, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported.
