South Korea: 23 sailors abducted off Somalia are safe

South Korea says all 23 sailors abducted off the Somali coast last weekend are safe. Foreign Ministry spokesman Moon Tae-young said Monday that one of the sailors called family members in South Korea and told them everyone was safe. Moon declined to provide further details until the sailors are released. Officials say gunmen seized control of the Panamanian-registered cargo ship on Saturday, taking the five South Koreans and 18 Filipinos on board captive. It is not immediately known if the gunmen are demanding a ransom. Somalia is the world's top hot spot for piracy.
