Seismologists are reporting a strong but deeply centered earthquake in Guatemala.
Local radio stations say there are no reports of damages or injuries.
The US Geological Survey says the quake had a magnitude of 6.1 and was centered 45 kilometers southeast of Quetzaltenango, the country's second-largest city.
The epicenter is 70 kilometers from the capital, where the quake was not felt strongly.
The Survey says it hit at 11:21 a.m. It struck at a depth of 100 kilometers.
