Terrorists kill a police chief in North West Pakistan

An official said terrorists used rockets and other weapons to kill six people including a senior police official in Pakistan's volatile northwest. The Sunday incident occurred in Lower Dir, a district near the Afghan border. Government official Syed Mohammed Javed said terrorists attacked a group of police who were chasing them after a kidnapping. The dead included the district police chief, Khurshid Khan. Terrorists routinely attack security forces in Pakistan's northwest region bordering Afghanistan. Dir sits next to Bajur, a region where the Pakistani military has fought insurgents over the past six months.
