Some 3,000 anti-government protesters gathered in downtown Chisinau Sunday to call for the resignation of the Communist government that won elections a week ago.
Protesters and opposition parties say the elections were rigged. The Communists won about 50 percent of the vote.
Protesters shouted: "Down with the Communists!" Opposition leader Serafim Urechean told the crowd that Moldava's "fragile" democracy was in danger. He said that innocent people had been arrested and were "beaten and tortured."
Some 200 were arrested after Tuesday riots where more than 90 were injured. Human right groups claim that people have been unfairly arrested, and beaten.
