UK military says soldier killed in Afghanistan

Britain's military announced on Wednesday that one of its soldiers died during an operation against enemy forces in southern Afghanistan. The British Ministry of Defense said that a solider from the 1st Battalion The Rifles was killed by enemy fire in Nad-e-Ali, an area northwest of Helmand's provincial capital, Lashkar Gah. The military said that he was taken by helicopter to a military hospital for treatment but died of his wounds. The next of kin have been informed.
