UN hopeful of Bhutto assassination investigation

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he's hopeful a UN commission will be established in the near future to investigate the assassination of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto. Ban's press office issued a statement on the investigation on the eve of Saturday's first anniversary of the gun and suicide bomb attack in Rawalpindi that killed Bhutto, who was campaigning to return her Pakistan People's Party to power in parliamentary elections. Ban assured the Pakistani people and government of his commitment to search for truth and justice, UN deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe said in Friday's statement.
