US Middle East special envoy George Mitchell met on Thursday Turkey's prime minister as part of his quest for peace in the region.
Mitchell was on his second tour of the region as President Barack Obama's special envoy. He met Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday.
The state-run Anatolia news agency quoted Mitchell as saying that Turkey's support is needed for peace in the Middle East, following his talks Wednesday with President Abdullah Gul.
