Watch: UN Security council discusses Mideast, 'Palestinian question'

PLO, PA representatives along with UN special envoy to the Mideast Robert Serry to make addresses ahead of meeting.

The UN Security Council was meeting on Tuesday to address issues including the situation in the Middle East, including the latest Gaza conflict and the "Palestinian question."
Palestinian Authority and PLO representatives along with Robert Serry, the United Nations special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, were set to address the press ahead of the meeting in New York.
The Palestinian Authority is planning to demand the UN take a "clear stance" to put an end to the "occupation" after PA President Mahmoud Abbas unveiled a new political initiative – which was presented by Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat in Washington earlier this month.
The PA has cautioned that "if the US refuses to adopt our plan for peace, the Palestinian leadership" will push forward a draft resolution at the UN Security Council.
US Secretary of State John Kerry has yet to respond to the plan, said PA Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki, who hopes to get an answer from the administration by September 24, when the UN General Assembly kicks off in New York.
