The Bush administration is arguing anew for an end to the latest flare up between Israel and the Hamas organization.
White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe released a statement saying that "in order for the violence to stop, Hamas must stop firing rockets into Israel and agree to respect a sustainable and durable ceasefire."
Johndroe issued the statement Monday morning from Crawford, Texas, where President Bush is seeing in the new year.
The White House spokesman said a lasting peace "is the objective to which all parties need to be working. That is what the United States is working towards."
