'Wonder Woman' is No. 1 Halloween costume, says Google

Gal Gadot herself took part in the celebrations as well, though she didn't dress up as Wonder Woman.

For the past few days, millions of Americans have donned costumes and taken to the streets to demand candy.

That’s right – Halloween.

And, this year, at least according to Google analytics, the most popular costume in the US was none other than Wonder Woman.

Following the smash success of the movie this summer, starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot, women and girls across the country (and probably some boys, too) chose to don the headpiece, metallic cuffs and iconic W emblem this Halloween.

Google released figures showing the most popular costumes according to online searches, and No. 1 nationwide was Wonder Woman; No. 2 was Harley Quinn, a fictional supervillain in DC Comics; and in third place was the generic (and creepy) option of clown.

When it came to a breakdown by state, Wonder Woman was the top costume search in places like New York, California and Texas.

But in states including Delaware, Maine, Montana and West Virginia, that costume didn’t even crack the top five.

Gadot took part in the celebrations, as well, though she didn’t dress up as Wonder Woman. In a post on Instagram Tuesday night, she shared a picture of herself out trick or treating in a Batman face mask. But she said it was moving to see all the Wonder Woman costumes out there.

“I was so excited to see so many ladies and girls dressed like Wonder Woman,” she wrote. “This is so much fun walking around and seeing all the different customs (sic), colors and happy ppl.. too much sugar for me tonight.”

In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last month, Gadot said her daughter, Alma, loves Halloween and was planning to dress up as a zombie
