EU concerned over Iran vote

The European Union has expressed concern over how Iran's presidential elections have been conducted. The 27-nation bloc said it was "concerned about alleged irregularities" during Friday's vote and post-election violence that erupted after the release of results on Saturday. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of the vote which was disputed by his reformist rival Mir Hossein Mousavi. The EU in a statement released late Saturday said it hoped the outcome of the elections would ease tensions between Iran and the international community over its nuclear program.
