An Iranian national has been arrested in the Islamic Republic for allegedly spying for Israel, Iranian media reported on Monday.According to reports, Iranian authorities arrested the man in the southeastern city of Kerman on charges of espionage.He then faced trial for reportedly providing intelligence about Iran to Israel.The unidentified man had allegedly passed on sensitive information to the Israeli Embassy in Thailand.According to Iran's Press TV, the alleged spy had intended to provide his handler with further intelligence information during a second trip to the Southeast Asian country prior to his arrest.The data included information about Iran's economy and geography - including the mines of the Kerman Province where the supposed agent was arrested.A man from the anti-Zionist, ultra-Orthodox Natorei Karta sect was charged last Thursday with making contact with Iranian representatives abroad with the intention of passing them sensitive information about Israel.He was arrested last month, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) said. The Shin Bet and the Israel Police simultaneously announced their earlier arrest of the defendant.Yonah Jeremy Bob contributed to this report.
