Sallai Meridor calls to step up Iran sanctions following IAEA report

Israeli Ambassador to the US Sallai Meridor called on the international community to step up sanctions against Iran following a report released by International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohamed ElBaradei on Wednesday. "The findings in this IAEA report are extremely serious and alarming. It is clear that Iran continues to flagrantly violate the UN Security Council's resolutions and is proceeding with its enrichment program," Meridor said in a statement late Wednesday night. "The urgency of the situation is growing with each passing day as Iran moves closer towards achieving military nuclear capabilities. The world must dramatically step up sanctions against Iran before it is too late." The IAEA report, which discussed implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and Relevant UNSC Resolutions, said its probe into Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program is deadlocked.
