As part of Adama initiative, hundreds of Adama company workers from the Adama Israel Agan factory in Ashdod, from the Adama Israel Makhteshim factory in Neot Hovav, in Beer-Sheva and from the company's headquarters, have been mobilizing every day for the past few weeks to support farmers who have been suffering from a shortage of workers since the outbreak of the war. The employees help the farmers in the south, in the surrounding residents of the Gaza Envelope and in the northern settlements with harvesting operations of vegetables and fruits, such as tomatoes, persimmons, cauliflowers, lemons and oranges, this after the owners of farms and orchards were left without working hands and suffer from an acute shortage of manpower since the war began.
Today (Monday, November 13), a group of over 60 volunteer workers arrived from all the company's sites, including the factory management, to help farmer Yitzhak Saluki from Moshav Givati (near Ashdod), picking tomatoes.
In recent weeks, over 300 company employees have arrived to assist farmers in order to ensure that the Israeli agricultural industry continues to operate and that the agricultural products do not go down the drain. Among other things, the people of Adama mobilized to pick tomatoes in Kibbutz Mivathim, persimmons in Kibbutz Palmachim, citrus in the Be'er Tovia area, to collect and plant cauliflowers in Moshav Hatzav, and more.

Agriculture situation in Israel is now in one of its biggest crises in history. The war severely affected many farmers in the settlements surrounding Gaza, the south and the north. Others were drafted into reserve service, foreign workers left the country and agricultural farms were left without working hands. Alongside this, in all parts of the country, much agricultural produce must be harvested, farm animals require care and there are many tasks that no one can do.
With the outbreak of the war, many crops, fields and plantations were left without working hands to take care of the planting and harvesting of the crop. Infrastructure and equipment were damaged, foreign workers were murdered in the terrible massacre of Black Saturday on October 7, some of them escaped to their homeland. As a result, there was a shortage of agricultural produce and working hands for agricultural harvesting, and the management of Adama and its employees are trying to fill this shortage with full volunteering and commitment.
