Former hostage Daniella Gilboa has had a bullet removed from her ankle, which was lodged there throughout her captivity, since October 7, when Hamas terrorists shot her, she shared on her Instagram on Thursday.

Gilboa noted in her post that the date of her surgery at Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus was July 10, saying it was "one of the happiest days of my life."

"If you look at the date the way Americans do, it flips and becomes a symbol of the worst day of my life. October 7," she added.

The released hostage also noted the time of day that the surgery took place - 6:30 a.m., which is around the time that Hamas terrorists invaded Israel on October 7.

Gilboa was released from captivity in late January, after 477 days in the hands of Hamas.

Why was surgery delayed until now?

Gilboa later admitted in the post that she had put off undergoing the surgery because the bullet was "a daily reminder of how grateful [she is] to God for protecting [her]. And how grateful [she is] to the angelic friends who have taken care of [her] every single day since."

Gilboa decided to meet with doctors and finally schedule the surgery two weeks ago.

"For a year and four months, Karina, Doron, and Naama heard me endlessly fantasizing about how badly I wanted it (the bullet) to come out," she said.

She ended her post by thanking the medical team at Beilinson. She noted her appreciation for the medical staff who would step out several times a day to stand in shifts holding up photos of the 50 hostages still in Gaza.
