United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio's planned visit to Israel has been delayed, two sources confirmed to The Jerusalem Post on Monday.

Rubio was originally supposed to arrive on Saturday, but will arrive on March 2 instead.

Rubio's visit will follow the third round of US-Iran nuclear talks, which are set to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday.

As in the past two rounds, Thursday's talks will be moderated by Omani officials and may include Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran expected to submit proposal for nuclear deal

Iranian officials are expected to submit a comprehensive proposal for a nuclear deal to the American delegation before the meeting. The proposal will be reviewed by US officials and discussed during the Omani-mediated talks.

According to a New York Times report on Sunday, US officials shared that US President Donald Trump is considering launching a large attack aimed at toppling the Iranian regime, should talks result in Iran refusing to "give in to his [Trump’s] demands" when it comes to scaling back nuclear operations.

Iran is, according to a Sunday report from Reuters, willing to make nuclear concessions in order to avoid strikes and in pursuit of the relaxation of US sanctions.
