Schools for children ages zero to eight are set to gradually reopen on Sunday, pending approval from local authorities, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced late Monday night.
"The Education Minister's outline allows a gradual return of the education system to frontal activity after the Passover holiday, while ensuring the safety of the students and strengthening and addressing the pedagogical and emotional response,” said Education Minister Yoav Kisch.
"The implementation of the outline for the coming Sunday will be subject to a situation assessment by the Home Front Command to be held on the holiday eve,” he stated.
Missed school days not to be compensated during summer vacation
Additionally, the Finance Ministry's request to require educators to make up missed school days during summer vacation was rejected due to opposition from various teachers' organizations, according to N12.
Daycares, kindergartens, and schools closed throughout Israel shortly after the US-Israel war with Iran began in late February.
Schools in local authorities where the risk of rocket fire is low have since resumed studies, per the guidelines of the Home Front Command and the Education Ministry.
