Police arrested an 18-year-old Bedouin youth from Rahat after he allegedly threatened a local school principal that he would assault him for inviting IDF soldiers to the school for a discussion, Police spokesperson reported Tuesday.
The visit became known when Dr. Muhammad Alhaib, who is the supervisor of Bedouin education in the Ministry of Education, posted the February 13 visit on Facebook lauding the effort.
"On Tuesday I visited the educational centers of the city of Rahat," he wrote in his post. "I wish our students all the success in the world."
In the post's photos, Alhaib is seen in the company of IDF soldiers.
"Israeli police will act with zero tolerance toward elements who mean to threaten and damage the mission of educators to promote integration in Israeli society," the police spokesperson said.
