Court orders cops to find man who kicked Israeli-Arab woman in head

The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday ordered police to locate a man who kicked an Israeli-Arab woman in the head while she lay on the ground.
“Are we in Sodom and are we like Gomorrah” the court said during a pre-indictment hearing relating to potential charges the woman herself, Hadra Abu Aanam, of Haifa, may face for unexplainedly lightly punching another person on Lehi Street in Tel Aviv on October 12.
Reacting, the man she hit grabbed her hands and pinned her to the ground until the police arrived.
According to the court, while Aanam was pinned to the ground, another bystander unconnected to the incident came over and gave her a serious kick to the head, as recorded on the video.
In obvious anger, the court sarcastically told the police to “find this ‘hero of Israel’” without delay, saying “she did not constitute any danger and [was] without an ability to defend herself.”
The court emphasized that Aanam was “not a terrorist,” and that even if terrorism charges had been raised against her, it would have been illegal to kick her in the head once she was subdued and no longer dangerous.
If people such as the unidentified kicker are not investigated, it would be a “slippery slope,” said the court.
It was unclear whether Aanam ultimately will be charged because the punch she threw was considered a minor offense.
