A pair of Israeli criminals was indicted on Sunday for illegal arms possession, alongside possessing a carjacking tool and a knife, with the police presenting 36 witnesses to the case.

The two criminals, named Andrei Pavlovich and Yishai Hanukkaev -this last one being a senior member of a criminal organization in Tel Aviv-were detained on March 26 after showing suspicious activity while driving their car around the city.

The police conducted an independent investigation separate from the prosecution, uncovering "early and deliberate preparation for criminal activity, using a variety of means, from firearms to advanced technological equipment."

The indictment was filed against the two defendants, both in their 40s and residents of Ashkelon and Petah Tikva, in the Tel Aviv District Court.

The police believe that, through its actions, it managed to thwart the incident and prevent potential harm.

In a separate incident on Sunday, a High Court of Justice judge permitted the publication of the names of two brothers who were indicted for conducting espionage on behalf of Iranian agents following a request by Walla.

The brothers, Meir and Yosef Nahum, residents of Beit Shemesh and Beitar Illit, were charged last month with transferring information to Iranians in exchange for tens of thousands of shekels. Much of the information was false and AI-generated, including claims of an imminent attack against Iran.

Justice Alex Stein rejected an appeal filed by the brothers’ defense attorney, Adv. Ariel Atari, against the publication of the defendants’ names.
